In the Shawshank Redemption, Andy says, “I guess it comes down to a simple choice, really. Get busy living or get busy dying.”
I haven’t really posted much these last few months. Bryan and I were busy trying to live. Growing up with cystic fibrosis, Bryan always was busy living. By the time I came along, he was still busy living, but his body was busy dying. We had three years and about 2-1/2 months together before his body decided enough was enough.
I spent this last month in the hospital with him, creating Facebook posts of our progress and our setbacks so everyone would know what was going on with him. In the end, when we decided to pull him off of the ventilator, his body lasted about 10-15 minutes.
We buried him on Tuesday and now we are all moving forward because life goes on. I’m left with our precious memories. I’m still in shock, processing slowly. It feels like he’s simply out of town.
I am a widow.
