Mouse in the House

I was sitting on the couch working on an article when suddenly I heard a bit of scratching. Our dog was entrenched firmly in his spot after heedlessly crawling over me to get there.   

He was in no mood to move.

Then I saw the source of the scratching:

We have a mouse in the house and I think we’re going to need a bigger trap. He obviously has been eating the dog food all winter as can be seen in his big as– *ahem* derrière.

What does the dog do?

This. And only this.
